What is Gestalt Counselling?

Here and Now

Gestalt counselling considers your whole self and works with how your experience of the past and thoughts of the future are impacting on your present, working in the 'here and now'.

Whole Self

Gestalt works with the concept of the whole being more than the sum of its parts. This means I consider you as a whole person when you come to therapy, you are not solely what you bring to therapy and you are not just a product of what is happening to you right now. I appreciate that people are complex and we all have layers upon layers of what makes us who we are and how uniquely we respond to life's challenges.

Studying at Home


I listen to you and explore your thoughts with you. Self-awareness can be uncomfortable sometimes and I will support you in this process to facilitate self-acceptance.


I can work creatively using metaphor, imagery and creative materials, when finding the words to how you feel becomes difficult. These activities can offer profound new insight, perspectives and awareness.

I will work with you to determine what issues you would like to focus on and you have control over what it is you want to explore or not explore. I do not give advice or tell you what to do, but I can safely support you to decide what you feel is best for you.
